Dear Parents, February 6, 2017
During the week of March 6-10, the Cumberland Elementary Library is having a Birthday Party! All of the students are invited to join the fun. And books are the perfect gift for a library.
Each classroom teacher has selected two age-appropriate books for their class to “give” to the library. These books are selected from a group that Mrs. Carroll, our librarian, has purchased. Posters highlighting the books have been placed in each classroom. When a child brings in a donation (any amount is fine) to their teacher, their name will be placed on the book’s poster. A bookplate listing all the contributors to that book will be placed inside its front cover.
We will collect money for books starting Tuesday, February 7 through Friday, February 17.
Please make checks out to "Cumberland Elementary School".
In addition to the classroom gifts, families can donate to the Library Birthday Party by purchasing books from Mrs. Carroll’s selections. Bookplates will also be placed in these books indicating the person or family who purchased the book. Individual/family books range from $10-$25. Please see our librarian, Mrs. Carroll, if you would like to purchase one of these books.
We will celebrate the Library Birthday Party during regularly scheduled library classes the week of March 6-10. The children will be given a small token of thanks and all the new Birthday Party books will be on display.
We want to stress that participation is encouraged but strictly voluntary. It is our hope that the students will feel more a part of the library and gain an appreciation for the cost of new books.
Thank you for your support and participation. If you have any questions, please email Nikki Melchi at email@example.com.
