​October-December: During the second nine weeks, the second graders will be:

• reviewing characteristics of a mystery
• continuing to work on order in the library (shelving books)
• responding to literature
• reading a variety of books to work on Author's Purpose
• using problem solving and teamwork skills to solve various puzzles

August- September: The second graders will be:

• reviewing Library rules and procedures
• identifying fiction/nonfiction
• learning about biographies
• reading spine labels-different sections of the library
• identifying genres: characteristics of a mystery
• focusing on story elements
